ORIVO is providing the world´s first and only origin certification of omega-3 products based on laboratory testing. Located in Molde, Norway, the company has been providing evidence-based transparency to the omega-3 industry since 2014, and uses a methodology that represents a new level of third-party ingredient verification. Through ORIVO´s unique fingerprinting technology, Vesteraalens omega-3 products are verified and certified as single species cod from Norway, communicated through an ORIVO origin logo on the product packaging.

THE ORIVO CERTIFICATE

The most unique feature of our oils is that they are made purely from the livers of Gadus morhua, and thereby differentiated from competitive products so called “cod oils / cod body oils” made from the livers of different fish species from the cod fish family (Gadidae) or made from all kinds of body parts (“trimmings of food production of wild-caught Arctic Cod, Saithe and Haddock”).

To ensure the authenticity of fish oils, ORIVO has developed a sophisticated process which makes it possible to verify the source (species) and origin (geography) of both bulk products and consumer ready omega-3 supplements.

THE REVOLUTIONARY ORIVO TECHNOLOGY

Founded on more than two decades of research, the laboratory technique utilised by ORIVO is a fingerprinting technology based on NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance) spectroscopy. Identification of analysed products is performed by matching their “chemical fingerprints” ORIVO´s unique fingerprint database of reference samples.
