Localized in a unique Ecosystem

Every year in winter, between January and April, the coastal waters of Northern Norway are treated to a fascinating migration, when the Skrei (Gadus morhua), sets out from the Barents Sea to retrieve its spawning grounds along the close coast of Vesterålen and Lofoten. 60% of the Norwegian cod is harvested in the waters surrounding Vesteraalens production facilities.

Utilizing the raw material

Today one of every four fish cought on earth is “reduced” into oil, meal and used for agriculture, animal husbandry, and most recently, fish farming. Vesteraalens strategy is to utilize the entire fish. With a growing world population we strongly believe that what can be utilized for food purposes should go directly into food applications. The other ingredients from the skin to the liver will serve other markets. This is, in our opinion, the most ethical and environmentally direction forward.

Vesteraalens production facilities

Producing high-quality marine seafood requires a dedicated and careful handling of the entire production process, from the raw material to the finished goods. Vesteraalens have full control of the incoming of the fresh raw materials from local fish landing sites.
